ABOUT

ryan bio.jpg

Ryan Danilson is the Owner of Boat Safe America – having been around boats and the water his entire life, including living on the water, Ryan became attracted to boating, skiing, boat camping, and inner tubing at a young age.

Ryan's grandparents also owned one of the first houses in Discovery Bay, and were owners of multiple boats and jetskis – but there's a dark side to the water...

The saying goes – “It's all fun until someone gets hurt.”

Two years ago, Ryan pulled a man from the water that had been ejected from his boat due to excessive speed – “He was scalped and de-gloved from the left knee down. After pulling him from the water we rushed him to the helicopter at the Discovery Bay Marina.” Tragically, the man had succumbed to his injuries on the day following the accident. It just so happened that the victim was the Batallion Chief-in-Charge of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Marine Division.

It was then that he decided that he wanted to do whatever he can to help protect people from injury on the water.

Having already served as a Firefighter, EMT, Incident Control Officer, Flood Fighter, and Confined Space Rescue Lead Technician, Boat Safe America followed his path of life safety as it was launched in January of 2017.

“Every job I have had has been revolving around life safety. I love people and don’t want to see anyone die, if preventable.”

Boat Safe America started with small 2-day Powerboat Handling Safety classes. After a few agencies caught wind of the classes, more classes were developed to target agencies and professionals on the water. After the CA Boater's Card Law passed, we started offering state-specific four-hour classes. To-date, Boat Safe America has trained hundreds of people in boating safety and prides themselves on quality training and customer satisfaction – Boat Safe America has always received 5-star reviews on all media platforms across the internet. Boat Safe America has trained such companies as PG&E, DWR, DES, Google, EAS and AECOM.

Boat Safe America also uses the most current state-of-the-art equipment and hires only the best instructors. Boat Safe America's goal is to make learning fun and enjoyable while maximizing the information provided to the students.

Where instruction was known, 81% of deaths occurred on boats where the operator did not receive boating safety instruction. Only 14% percent of deaths occurred on vessels where the operator had received a nationally-approved boating safety education certificate.
